October Photography Challenge: Everyday Objects, Abstracted

For our next photography challenge, we’re inviting you to see the ordinary in a whole new way. Your assignment: take an everyday object and capture it in an extraordinary, artistic, or surprising way.
Think about:
Unusual angles – shoot from below, above, or up close to reveal a new perspective.
Dramatic light and shadows – let lighting transform your object into something cinematic.
Reflections or distortions – mirrors, water, glass, or any surface that changes the way we see it.
Extreme close-ups – zoom in on textures, lines, or patterns to make the familiar feel unfamiliar.
Extra Twist
If you like, you can also photograph your favourite personal object — something meaningful to you. The goal is still to create a photo that makes us see it differently, but with a personal storytelling layer.
✨ Why this is fun:
Everyone has objects nearby — no special location needed.
It encourages creative seeing and experimentation with light, angle, and composition.
Adding a favourite object allows for a personal connection that can make your image even more powerful.

Optional Fall Theme
Since it’s October, feel free to incorporate fall elements into your photos:
Leaves, pumpkins, or autumn colors as background or context.
Seasonal objects like mugs, scarves, or cozy items.
The golden-hour light of fall afternoons can add warmth and drama to your compositions.
This challenge is about creativity, exploration, and personal expression. Have fun experimenting with everyday objects, your favourites, and the beautiful colors of fall!
